Delia Online Cookery School

Educational Channel Build

The Brief

Following the success of the Waitrose Heston & Delia campaign, Delia Smith personally commissioned us to create her first ever online cookery school. The brief was specific: to produce something truly instructional and educational that could serve as a genuine learning resource — teaching people how to cook, step-by-step.


This was long before most content creators were thinking about online learning in the way we now take for granted, making the project pioneering in both scope and ambition.

Our Approach

Delia was exceptionally clear about what she wanted: precise, factually rigorous lessons, beautifully shot, easy to follow and matching her exacting standards.


We filmed a structured series covering everything from food fundamentals such as custard, pastry, sauces and batters through to cakes, bread and pasta. We also produced twelve standalone technique films designed as practical reference tools.


We created an introductory film and broadcast trailer and, once the core cookery school content was live, were tasked with building and launching the Delia Online YouTube Channel — establishing the brand's presence on the platform.

Deliverables

From the production we delivered:


  • 31 instructional films, each 5–10 minutes in duration

  • An introductory film and broadcast trailer

  • 12 standalone technique films

  • Strategy and support to launch and build the Delia Online YouTube channel


High-volume, high-quality educational content produced at scale.

The Outcome

The Delia Online Cookery School stands as one of the earliest examples of long-form educational content created for a true legacy brand.


Designed as a resource viewers could return to again and again, the content has remained active across Delia's online platforms for well over a decade.


At a time when most content was promotional or advertorial, this project demonstrated the power of structured learning and careful storytelling — putting our stake in the ground early as producers of premium digital content.
